Intro

We try to make connecting your app to your custom domain as simple as possible. Brevity will handle provisioning SSL certificates (to make your app secure) for you with each domain.

If any time you need help, please look at the forum or create a new topic.

Steps

1. Deploy Your Application

   • If you haven't deployed your app yet, trying to connect a domain won't work

2. Add DNS Records to your Domain

   • The DNS record you enter will depend on if the domain you are trying to connect is a subdomain or not.

     <aside> 🔑 An example of a subdomain would app.mycoolcompany.com. if you are trying to connect just mycoolcompany.com then your app has no subdomain)

   • If connecting a subdomain, you will need to add a single CNAME record with the URL being the default brevity URL of your app

     <aside> 🔑 For example, if the name of my app is mycoolapp, the cname record I would enter would be mycoolapp.brevityapps.co

     </aside>

   • If you need help adding DNS records, please watch the video or contact the support of the place you purchased your domain

   • If connecting an apex domain (a domain with no subdomain) you will need to add an A record as well as a CNAME

     Record - NAME - VALUE
     A - @ - 75.2.60.5
     CNAME - www - appname.brevityapps.co 
     (replace appname with the name of your specific app) 
     

     <aside> 🔑 New DNS records can take up to 24 hours to full take place so its important to be patient when connecting a domain

3. Enter your domain your app settings

   

4. Wait for SSL

   • Your new SSL certificate can take up to 4 hours to be created
